Solar Power from Israel: Catalyzing Development in Africa


This event will feature a presentation by Sivan Borowich, Co-Founder and President of Jewish Heart for Africa, at Harvard Kennedy School on March 12, 2009.

Jewish Heart for Africa (JHA) is a new non-profit organization that brings Israeli clean technology to rural African villages. JHA aims to promote development in Africa through the use of clean, alternative energy in order to fight climate change and provide for sustainable economic development, while also improving overall health and living standards in rural Africa.

The Boston Israel Cleantech Alliance connects cleantech investors, entrepreneurs, academic researchers and government officials in Israel and Boston.

We aim to:

(1) foster increased economic, scientific, and educational relations between Boston and the State of Israel
(2) coordinate cleantech trade and investment events
(3) facilitate investments in, and partnerships with, Israeli companies developing renewable energy, water, and environmental technologies
(4) encourage the adoption of clean technologies by individual, 
commercial and industrial consumers
(5) assist families and institutions to offset their carbon footprint by investing in Israel
